Meaning of Parliament.
Parliament means the Hon'ble President, Lok Sabha and Rajyasabha.
At present, the Lok Sabha has 543 seats filled by ' elected ' representatives by general election held nationwide.
The Rajya Sabha should consist of not more than 250 members - 238 members representing the States and Union Territories, and 12 members nominated by the President. Rajya Sabha is a permanent body and is not subject to dissolution. Currently it has 233+12=245 members (or Members of Parliament- MPs)
In Rajya Sabha the members (MPs) respresent the States or UTs not the general public direclty and they are elected by the state legislature not by the public directly, while members of LOK Sabha are elected by public directly through general election (Lok Sabha election.)
